I’m spending this morning making friends with these magestic Ponderosa Pines at our new house. I’ve always felt a sense of deep grounding and peace when I sit beneath big trees of all kinds. I remember when I first moved out west in 1997, took my first trip to Twisp with my college friend’s family for Thanksgiving. After we crossed from the west side of the Cascades to the east side, I started to notice these gorgeous, powerful pines with distinctive cinnamon red bark. I still remember asking what kind of trees these were, and my friend’s dad telling me they were Ponderosa Pines. I was forever smitten 💕. I love their height, their beautiful bark and their long large needles, which look so beautiful defined with fresh snowflakes. Can’t believe we get to have some on our new property 💕🌲. Looking forward to getting to know each and every one of them, and (embarrassingly) I will probably even name them. (Roll eyes now.). #treehugger #ponderosapine #methowvalley #twisp (at Twisp, Washington)
